2 weeks later Vic Rail informs Society that the scrapping of steam locomotives will cease. Castlemaine and Maldon Councils again indicate support. Minister for Planning advises he is aware of support for the project. Hon. D. Crozier, Minister for Development Decentralization and Tourism accompanied by several local MP's visits Castlemaine to meet deputation. The Minister indicates favorably. Representatives from Society, Castlemaine and Maldon received publicity on local radio and news media. Support for project from Director of North Central Regional Tourist Authority. |

| "Deputation meets Minister of Transport, Mc Clelland, who said that once the Society has proven it is capable of organizing work parties and maintenance, the Minister will be prepared to make available 1 loco and carriage for a trial period.
