(CMRPS)
Following closure of the Maldon Railway in December, 1976 an unincorporated body known as the Castlemaine & Maldon Railway Preservation Society was formed with the purpose of preserving, restoring and operating the line as a Tourist Railway capturing the steam era of the Victorian Branchline Railway. The Society was incorporated as a not-for-profit company in 1980.
The CMRPS has adopted the trading name 'Victorian Goldfields Railway" for the tourist train operation.

What do you get by being a member?
- Two return trips annually on any normally scheduled VGR trains.
- The opportunity to take part in the restoration and preservation of a genuine Victorian Broad-Gauge Branchline.
- The opportunity to actively participate in the operation of the Victorian Goldfields Railway. Members can obtain qualification as locomotive driver, firemen, guard, signalmen, station master, booking staff and many more positions vital to the operation of the Railway.
- Members Newsletter - published monthly
- Social and special events for members.
Membership Categories
Several Categories of Society Membership are available -
| Individual | for individuals of and over 18 years of age. Annual Fee $75.00 incl. gst. |
| Associate | for individuals under 18 years. Subject to approval by the Board, Associate Membership is upgraded to Individual Membership on reaching 18 years of age. Annual Fee $25.00 incl. gst. |
| Family | 2 adults and upto 6 Children (under 18) residing with and under the care of the adults. Annual Fee $100.00 incl. gst. |
| Concession | is available to those persons holding a valid Pension, Health Care or Veterans Affairs Card. Annual Fee $60.00 incl. gst. |
| Sustaining | membership is available for individual persons and incorporated bodies. Annual Fee $250.00 incl. gst. |
| Sponsor | membership available to a sole trader, partnership, company, trust or other entity that contributes an additional subscription or benefit to the Society as negotiated with the Board. The Board will also determine the rights or privileges offered to the Supporting Member. Please visit the sponorship page or contact the Society office on 03 5470 6658 for more information. |
Voting at General Meetings -
Each category of membership, except Associate, is entitled to one vote for each resolution put to general meetings.
Volunteers & Members Code of Conduct
The Volunteers & Members Code of Conduct seeks to promote and strengthen the good reputation of tourist railways and the VGR by establishing standards of performance and behaviour for VGR volunteers and members.
