Forest Creek Bridge Sleeper Replacements

July 2010 saw the replacement of all sleepers on Forest Creek Bridge, parallel to the Bendigo Line just south of Castlemaine Station. Over the past few decades the portion of the Maryborough Line used by the VGR has seen little maintenance, this lack of maintenance had lead to a 5mph speed restriction over the bridge being introduced 2 years ago. A total relaying of the bridge was undertaken so as to give the longest possible time before the trackwork over the bridge will need attention.
