First Day in VGR service - 5th September 2007
After achieving certification, J541 commenced working regular trains on the VGR on Wednesday 5th September 2007.
These photographs by Leo Kennedy give us two scenes of the day.
In 1977, J541 was purchased from the Victorian Railways by founding C&MRPS member, Adrian Ball. Adrian passed away unexpectedly during 2005. Leo Kennedy added this comment when forwarding these photos - "A nice touch was the fact that Adrian Ball's sons were in attendance to see the first run of the engine that their Dad had saved".
