Diesel Electric Locomotive - Y 127
Seven-O-Seven Operations Inc. Locomotive
Seven-O-Seven Operations Inc. Y 127 was on lease to the VGR as back-up motive power for those occasions when a steam loco was unavailable.
Y 127 arrived at Castlemaine by rail on Monday 10th January and transferred to Maldon on Friday 14th January 2005. The transfer from Melbourne was hastened by the 17th Jan closure date for the main line between Sunbury and Bendigo for the Regional Fast Rail Project works.
After performing valuable service on Total Fire Ban Days and while K160 was unavailable during late 2005 and early 2006, Y127 itself was placed out-of-service due to a broken casting on the blower fan take-off.
Y127 was returned to 707 Operations by rail on the 9th December 2006.
The VGR expresses it appreciation to 707 Operations for the use of Y127.
