With the covid situation as it stands, we're currently have trouble filling all the required volunteer staffing positions and want to ensure we can continue to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all our passengers. For the remainder of October, we'll be cancelling all Wednesday Trains (Excl. 6th Oct) and running Sunday Trains ONLY.


We are offering regional Victorians a 20% discount for all online bookings for travel taken during October so please use promo code OCT21 when making your booking.

Tickets must be pre-booked online and you must reside in regional Victoria (excluding areas in lock down) or another permitted area, to travel with us. In the event that restrictions are re-imposed, you will able to transfer your booking to another date or receive a refund.

Unfortunately we can't guarantee we'll be able to operate our Courtesy Bus from Maldon Station into the Maldon township every running day, however the town is a very easy 8 minute walk from the railway station. This is due to limited volunteer availability during the Covid Situation.

GROUP SPECIALS
10-19 passengers
A substantial discount applies to groups of 10 or more booking online. Receive a 15% when booking online. Note: this special is only available if you book 10 or more passengers in one transaction. Family tickets are not available as they are already heavily discounted.

20 or more passengers Receive a 25% when booking online in one transaction. Note: this special is only available if you book 20 or more passengers in one transaction. Family tickets are not available as they are already heavily discounted. WHEELCHAIRS / DISABLED ACCESS Yes, we have a special Excursion class carriage available for wheelchairs. Please contact our office to check availability: (03) 5470 6658 or info@vgr.com.au

Disabled parking and especially access is unfortunately limited at Castlemaine Station.

HOW TO BOOK ONLINE
  • - Select if you would like to travel First or Excursion class and the Promotion (if applicable).
  • - You will be taken to the booking page. Select the departure and return times and finally the number of passengers and fare type. Select “Add to Cart” and complete the details on the last page.
  • - Please print your voucher (or have it ready on your mobile device) and present it at the station booking office on the day of travel.
  • - Please not that we cannot accept AMEX.
  • - Please ensure you arrive 20-30 minutes prior to departure time.
  • - You can book online up until half an hour before travel and you need only show your smartphone receipt at booking window.


TYPES OF FARES
  • - Family fares are available for Excursion class only and are valid for one adult and up to four children or two adults and up to three children.
  • - Child fares apply to ages 4 to 16 years inclusive.
  • - Children under the age of 4 travel free in excursion class only - please reply to your booking confirmation email with a request to add the correct number of infants, to ensure we allocate sufficient seats.
  • - Concession fares are available to holders of the following cards: Australian Health Care, Student, Seniors (all states), Companion and Pensioner. The cards will need to be presented before travel.
  • - We are unable to accommodate any infants 3 years and under in our First Class carriages for safety reasons. These age restrictions have been carefully considered in the interests of health and safety and the heritage design as well as our licence obligations. Due to the heritage nature and design of the carriages, we cannot accommodate high chairs, prams or wheelchairs in our First Class carriages.


REDEEM A GIFT CERTIFICATE If you hold a gift certificate, bookings can be made by clicking the 'REDEEM GIFT CERTIFICATES' button at the bottom of this page. You will receive a confirmation of your booking within 48 hours.



BICYCLES There is room for bicycles on our regular trains. They are carried at no charge and are safely stored in the guards van or other carriage vestibule as specified by the conductor.
